Our main objective is equipping this generation with the necessary set of linguistic skills required in a world of increasing cross cultural business interaction and for higher studies.
With the Increasing trade ties, there is an expanding need for foreign language experts.
In order to achieve the strategic goals which the CdA pursues, i.e.:
- A better mutual understanding among the people of different countries, cultures and upbringing.
- A better opportunity to develop one’s own talents and the capacity to apply them in life and
- A better preparation to face the challenges of the current and future life and development of the necessary skills to move fast forward in one’s career.
The CdA adopts and applies, as tactical means:
- The teaching of various languages at various levels &
- The presentation of different aspects of various cultures.

Language being the main instrument in understanding people of other countries and cultures, the CdA considers language learning to be the best means to reach positive inter-cultural and inter-national relationships.
Furthermore, a compelling social need for better life opportunities attracts many persons into wanting to develop and refine their basic talents and acquire those skills which are so necessary nowadays to compete and succeed in the global scenario.
We are here to offer our students a Global Exposer in the field of Language & Culture.
Your reasons :
First of all: We learn languages to better understand our thought processes.
All of our thought processes are conducted in language, so really our entire existence or essence, whatever we say, we express ourselves through the languages we speak. Try to think without language for instance. So, the language serves to understand each other.
If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to in his heart.
Apart from that with increasing globalization and increasing trade ties, there is an expanding need for language experts especially in French, German, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, English, Arabic and Hindi as well.
Due to rapid globalization and increase in global business competition organization can no longer rely on English only. International clients prefer to do business in their own language and a multi-lingual work force will give you the competitive edge. Employers in today’s global economy look for workers who know different languages and understand other cultures. Foreign language now a day is no more an example of luxury, it’s a necessity to secure good jobs and advance your career globally. In India great job opportunities are lying for candidates who are proficient in foreign languages. For the students who want to grab jobs after their studies should learn a foreign language to keep themselves ahead in the ruthless competition. It’s always good to be a special one from being a common one.
The Study of a Foreign Language
helps you to expand your view of the world
encourages critical reflection on the relation between language and culture, language and thought
expands your opportunities for meaningful leisure activities (such as travel, viewing foreign language films, watching foreign TV programs, reading newspapers)
develops your intellect (encouraging good learning habits, memorization, combining course content and skills in a meaningful way)
improves knowledge of the native language (through comparison and contrast with the foreign language)
exposes you to modes of thought and viewpoints that are also available in the foreign language and its culture
helps to build practical skills that may be used in other disciplines
fosters your understanding of the interrelation between language and human nature
teaches and encourages respect for other ethnic groups
contributes to the development of your personality
contributes to the achievement of national goals, such as economic development or national security
increases your sense of self worth. Speaking Italian or Spanish to your parents or ordering in French at a French restaurant will do wonders for your ego
A Foreign Language Opens Up Job Opportunities for You
In the routine performance of their jobs, many people are called upon to use their foreign language skills. In large metropolitan areas such as Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore knowing a foreign language seems almost an essential aspect of urban living. Many jobs require knowledge of at least one foreign language. Some of the most important include:
The U.S. Government: The United States Government employs Americans or foreigners who have foreign language skills on a regular basis. The Internal Revenue Service hires people with foreign language skills to handle routine investigations, audits, and communications with United States nationals who speak a foreign language. Other agencies and departments such as the CIA, the FBI, the State Department, the DEA, and the US Armed Services, to name a few, make ample use of people with foreign language skills.
Cucchiaio d’Argento (CdA) is a foreign language training Centre is providing 16 language courses training under one umbrella. Apart from that we give soft skill grooming and cross cultural exchange program. Recently MOU has been signed between CdA & Milon Mela of Shantiniketan. We are providing Indian Folk dance, music and songs etc. specially Indian Ethnic Culture…Milon Mela is residential…lots of foreigners coming, staying there and learning Indian Dance drama etc.
Knowing a foreign language is an important asset for many foreign companies doing business in the various part of the world. India and for India-based international companies business leaders know that the ability to communicate with others in their own language is essential in marketing Indian products abroad.
In Education
The study of Foreign Languages is increasing and the need for teachers will grow accordingly. Foreign languages should taught in Elementary, Junior and Senior High Schools, in the Universities, and in private schools.
In Public Relations
Knowing foreign languages and their cultures can make the difference between success and failure. The Chevy Nova failed in Latin America because the marketer did not realize that No va in Spanish means “It does not run.”
In Social Services
The social services deal with so many diverse groups that not knowing foreign languages can and in many cases does hamper their ability to serve the public adequately.
Health Care
The same thing can be said for Health Care, Police Enforcement, and the Courts. The ability to communicate with non-English speaking people can often make a difference between life and death.

Hope, the Centre would be able to produce language experts in the tune of 300 to 400 annually.
The Centre expects to spread its wings in other districts and North East of India very soon. Siliguri and Darjeeling being the gateway of the entire North-Eastern States, the Centre is determined to lay its foot in that region at the earliest opportunity for the benefit of the massive human resource to make them competent enough to face the emerging challenge as far as learning where foreign language is concerned and opening Franchise in different part of KOLKATA.
